From a Dream to Reality: The Story Behind Tri-Mounts – My Boutique Escape in Tirthan Valley

It’s true — as life moves forward, many people begin to forget just how intense and surreal the COVID time really was. The empty streets, the fear of touch, the constant updates, masks everywhere, and the quiet grief that hung in the air — they all start to fade into the background. But even if we forget some of the details, that time shaped us. It reminded us that health is the foundation of everything.

In the midst of the chaos and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many others, I found myself searching for peace — not just physical, but emotional and mental. The world had changed overnight, and suddenly, the noise, the rush, and the routines didn’t seem as important anymore. What I truly needed was solitude, nature, and a space to focus on my health and well-being.

That’s when the idea of Tri-Mounts was born.

The Beginning: A Search for Solitude

During lockdown, I began looking for a quiet, isolated place — somewhere I could truly disconnect, relax, and heal. After exploring a few locations, I stumbled upon a piece of land surrounded by nature, facing not one, but three magnificent mountains. I was facing the Tirth – “Tirthan Peak” a snow-capped peak in the Great Himalayan National Park from which the Tirthan River originates. The moment I saw it, I knew this was it. The view, the silence, the energy — it felt like a sanctuary.

But finding the location was just the beginning. The next few months (and years) were filled with challenges — construction delays, material shortages, and of course, the unpredictability of a pandemic-stricken world. To add to that, the land had its own complexities — it came with a natural water source, which was a blessing but also demanded extra care, planning, and environmental sensitivity during construction.

Yet, with every brick laid and every hurdle crossed, I could slowly see my vision taking shape. The quiet mountains in the backdrop, the raw beauty of the land, and the dream that had once lived only in my mind were finally coming to life.

Naming the Dream

When the structure was finally complete, I stood there — surrounded by nature, facing the three peaks — and it hit me. This place deserved a name that captured its essence. That’s how ‘Tri-Mounts‘ came to be — a tribute to the three mountains that stand like silent guardians around the property.

From Personal Retreat to Boutique Experience

Initially, Tri-Mounts was meant to be a personal getaway. But as life began returning to normal, friends and like-minded travelers started visiting. They, too, found the same peace and comfort here that I had once sought. As the number of visitors grew, I realized this wasn’t just a home anymore — it was something more.

By 2024, with more than four rooms on the property, I decided it was time to make it official. In May 2024, Tri-Mounts was registered as a ‘boutique hotel‘.

Why boutique? Because people weren’t just looking for a place to stay — they wanted a unique experience. Guests would often ask if they could purchase the local décor, handmade items, or even the custom herbal teas we served. It became clear that Tri- Mounts had evolved into a curated space — not just for rest, but for inspiration.

Tri-Mounts Today

Today, Tri Mounts is more than just a hotel. It’s a place of stories — mine, and now, those of the many travelers who pass through. Nestled in nature, with stunning mountain views and thoughtfully designed interiors, it offers a space to disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself.

Building a Community Around Stillness

Guests come from all over — writers seeking inspiration, digital nomads craving a slower pace, couples looking to reconnect, or solo travelers on their own journey of self-discovery. Many arrive as strangers and leave as friends, bonded by late-night conversations under starry skies, morning meditations by the stream, or hikes that push their limits and open their hearts.

We now host seasonal retreats focused on wellness, art, and nature — from yoga workshops to foraging walks and tea-blending sessions with local herbs. These offerings aren’t about creating a packed itinerary but about giving people space to breathe, to reflect, and to return to their lives a little more whole.

What I’ve realized is this: Tri-Mounts isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a feeling. It’s the quiet thrill of waking up to birdsong, the comfort of sitting by a fire after a long trek, the warmth of sharing stories with fellow travelers who understand the pull of the mountains.

Whether you’re seeking a quiet weekend retreat, a wellness-focused vacation, or just a break from the usual — Tri-Mounts welcomes you.
